I am a selfish person.  I don’t give a rat’s ass about anything that doesn’t affect me directly.  I don’t give a shit about who’s meeting with whom, or who’s running Turkey and I don’t care if some frigging country is going bankrupt!  What I do give a damn about is the stuff that affects me!  I don’t like it when a guy uses my toilet, pisses on the floor and doesn’t flush. That’s how I feel about what’s happening. 

During the great recession, I lost my home and my job.  Before that things were going great and I didn’t even bother to vote.  I spent eight years getting back and then in ’16, I voted for Trump to drain the swamp and make things “great again” for me.  Well all that has turned out to be crap!

I finally got back to my construction job a couple of years ago but without a full benefit package.  I signed up with Obamacare and last year the premium went up about 40%.  Now they tell me it won’t even be available next year.  That means my 20 year old kid with asthma will be without the family insurance and unable to get coverage due to his pre-existing condition.  The way things are going I just hope my old man’s Social Security/Medicare along with mom’s nursing home Medicaid coverage won’t be cut or stopped!  All this is happening at the same time my overtime got cut because of material cost increases due to the tariffs on imported steel and aluminum.  Speaking of tariffs, my married kid is moving in with us because the price of the home they wanted to buy went up 10% due to a tariff on lumber and increases in loan rates, and they tell me my pickup may cost 6 grand more because of tariffs.  Hell of a way to help the middle class!

With the announced retirement of Justice Kennedy, the Supreme Court by this administration will become the next tool of a fascist government destined to destroy the American democracy and middle class.   There may never be a free election beyond 2020 if corrective action is not taken.  I am Gil Eisner, an Independent candidate running for Congress in Nevada’s 3rd Congressional district and in the next 60 seconds I will explain how to correct this power grab.  

First, the voters in the next two elections must change  majority control of the congress by electing and replacing at least 10% of controlling party’s membership (more if possible).  This can be achieved by electing non partisan, independent candidates.  Secondly, those elected independents and other concerned members of congress should introduce and pass a bill to replace the Judiciary Act of 1869, which established the court composition at nine Justices.  The new Judiciary Act of 2020, should state  that the number of Justices of the Supreme Court of the United States should be in equal number to the number of U.S. Circuit Courts of Appeals (currently eleven numbered districts, or thirteen with two unnumbered districts).  Finally, passage of the 2020 Act would provide an opportunity for a new President to add two or more Justices to the Court,  thus re-establishing balance and non politicalizaton of the Court.

I can make a valid case in the next two hours for this new 2020 Act, but let me say simply, the world has changed in approximately 150 years and so should the Court!

There is a way to stop this nonsense and take back our Congress in one or two elections while the major parties are recovering from their daily soap opera addiction.  Voters should seriously consider voting for and electing non partisan independent candidates such that they represent and replace ten percent (10%) of the Senate and House of Representatives that are members of the party in power.  This will force either or both major parties to work with nonpartisan members in order form a coalition necessary to pass any legislation and properly conduct constitutional business.  This approach will be better representation and governance so that the major parties can correct the deficiencies and get back to properly representing the people.

Is the GOP “code blue”?

As it currently functions, the Republican Party prognosis is terminal!  In addition to cardiac arrest the party has contracted a politically fatal disease which destroys the political backbone and brain, leaving many in congress acting like zombies.  When I was a Republican, I relished being a member of a great political institution whose foundation was created by such political icons as Abraham Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt, Dwight Eisenhower, and Ronald Reagan.  Unfortunately, the current leadership of McConnell and Ryan, joined by many members of congress, all of whom have become infected with the deadly T-virus of “protect and defend” the President of the United States, Donald J. Trump.  T- virus  has reached the pandemic stage which uncorrected will wipe out the Republican Party over the next several election cycles. The unchecked continuance of this infection will surely be the death of the GOP.  If one wants to save the Party from this faith, radical measures must be taken.  

One possible method is to put the Party into an induced political coma while cures are formulated.  During this period and while under coma in intensive care, the Party must be detoxed and rebuilt.  To rebuild the Party during this period, the bad actors should be relieved of Party affiliation and the remaining reasonable party leadership must be engaged in scouting and grooming new, younger congressional candidates.  The sooner this process begins, the shorter the intensive care recovery.  If not acted upon by responsible leadership, the GOP will die either by the election dynamics or from prolonged exposure to the T-virus.

To avoid totally relinquishing congressional control to the other party during this period, it is suggested that responsible party members take the T-virus antidote by changing party affiliation to/or by actively supporting nonpartisan candidates.  Obviously, Party base voters would find it very difficult to continue to vote for T-virus infected zombies or alternately the other party, or not vote at all.  However, they should and would seriously consider voting for a nonpartisan candidate during this reconstruction period that represents their values and issue concerns.  Conversion to and supporting of nonpartisan candidates is a viable solution during recovery in this trying detoxification period.  Smart leadership is just that and will do that which is best for survival!
