WELCOME TO CIVIL WAR II…
The past several weeks have confirmed that the United States is engaged in its’ second civil war. This Civil War is not about slavery or issues between the North and the South, Democrats and Republicans, or the poor vs the rich, this Civil War is about racism and “us” vs “them”.
The “us” army is comprised of several components, each containing various elements. One component is “Power”, and comprised of elected persons seeking autocratic political power, extreme right-wing religious groups, individuals, and organizations seeking financial benefits. A second component is “Domestic Terrorists”, paramilitaries interested in overthrowing the government, and destroying the democracy (Oath Keepers, Proud Boys, QAnon, Boogaloo, etc.). A third component is the “Racists”. The principal element being the nationalistic, white xenophobes who want to rid the United States of people of color, Jews, foreigners, and those who don’t look like them or who practice a religion other than theirs. And the final component is the “Cultist”. This consists of individuals who believe in the concepts of the other organized components of the “us” army or who maybe psychologically bent towards joining a cult.
The targets of the “us” army is the destruction of our democracy, the “rule of law”, and those others who are not a member of “us”. The “us” army has existed for decades as small independent groups and only recently found the leadership that was able to consolidate them and their racist goals under the banner, “Make America Great Again”. That consolidator was Donald J. Trump. It is quite possible that Trump as the leader may falter, but there are many active and passive participants in the “us” army who view this Civil War as an opportunity to advance their own autocratic objectives and there is a strong possibility that competition will develop within the “us” army for that new leader.
